Cultural identity serves as a vital anchor, being a core principle of Live Your Movie. Within the black community culture fosters a sense of identity and belonging despite being generations of migrants in the UK. Identifying gaps in our culture allows us as individuals to connect with our stories, creating a bridge between our roots and our current environment.

Our belief is knowing who you are and mastering the sense of ‘self’, enables you to take control and be the leader / hero of your movie.

Many individuals within the black community in the UK uphold dual identities — balancing our African or Caribbean heritage with their ‘British’ nationality. We find this can cause an Identity clash, crisis or unexplained obstacles. Our space safely explores this further and navigates the feelings, the impact and potential complexities as you Live Your Movie.

Community.

‘Unity’ is a core value for live your movie which is embedded in the word ‘community’.

Live Your Movie wants to create a safe space through all our initiatives. Where our people can come together with shared values and mission to amplify the love & unity in the black community. This sense of community is vital in supporting one another emotionally, safely sharing experiences and collective empowerment.

Our ventures encourage us to come together and celebrate our heritage, our talent, our success’ and foster solidarity. Through our work, collaboration and partnerships we are building our networks in our community because ‘Together we are stronger‘.

Generations.

The impact of migration affects ongoing generations of Black people. It is important for us to identify the gaps in this regardless of what generation. We want our platform not only to highlight our stories, struggles and experiences but also our parents and those who came before us. Their stories are usually unheard, we believe it is important they are highlighted so we understand how it may have shaped us today.

While there are clear benefits associated with migration for many individuals and families, challenges remain regarding integration and maintaining community cohesion.

We want our development & leadership programme to be taken across the world helping our people discover their inner leadership.

The New Era Programme is a 8-10 week programme which gives our people the opportunity to take control of  their lives through  exploration of  their identity, their past, present and future. We create a safe space of community that enables the fostering of positive relationships, resilience,  improve self-esteem and help the development of empathy Through our programme there is better sense of self awareness, emotional regulation and interpersonal skills, which is crucial for personal development and future success.

Bridging the gaps in our culture, community & generations.

We take pride in the space we create for our community, showcasing how we are living our movies. Our events bring different generations together, a place where every voice matters and we can draw various experiences, different industries or professionals.

Live Your Movie champions and supports organisations that align with our vision and values, we are always happy to collaborate to push the movement further.

Production.

Our dream is to produce real films of our stories.

Part of our work includes once a month interviewing / capturing moments of people in our community who are living their movie. In these conversations we explore how they ‘took control’ leading them to their current success’, finding purpose or discovery of self in this world.

The production piece of our work gives the individuals the power in their movie. It provides the opportunity to learn & unlearn, to recreate themselves or develop the rest of their story into their desired outcome (next few years).

Following the Christian notion, every individual has a God given purpose, it is our duty to silence the noise and find it.
